Found Interesting Link on Diva

As we create blogs to fulfill a class assignment I thought the article posted and blogged on Diva was relevent to our class.

"A great brand can take months, if not years, and millions of dollars to build. It should be the thing you hold most precious." Andy beal

Interesting read about the importance and advantages of maintaining a blog. It sort of goes against my argument supporting the doctor for not having the most amount of time to create one. Because of the amount and speed of credibility that can be given or taken away from a company name through the word of mouth marketing, blogs are important to monitor. Its is impossible to ignore the demands of consumers. Blogs and discussions have allowed businesses, small, large, and service to keeps watch over their reputation.

Commenting on a Group Member

I found Brenden's blog entry about the adoption of RSS in the microsoft software to be quite interesting.

Sitting in class I have definately taken into account the advantages of having a newreader for the community involved in reading and writing blogs. I agree with Brenden that the inclusion of RSS from Bill Gates is evidence of its rising popularity and potential importance.

Gates stated the importance of "media across devices". This illustrates the connection of consumers technology and information. Things are becoming so interconnected and readily available and Gates has integrated and improved this into the microsoft browser.

From the site
So what improvements can we expect to see in IE7:
1) streamlined UI (tabs, zoom, better preview)
2) better security
3) platform capabilities built into the browser (especially the feeds store in rss)

I was interested in the article after I read my classmates blog and it should be interesting to see other who arent involved in the blogosphere already, respond to the new capabilties of gate's browser.

here.

I am glad I chose to edit this article because the show is airing now!! I watch it a little too religiously.

The doctor on Diva

I hate to admit I see where this guy this coming from.

I am not sure if everyone read Toby's post about sitting next to a doctor on the plane. He was explaining to her his disinterest and nonunderstanding about the purpose of blogs.
Not Everyone Loves Blogs or A Doc In A Blog

Although I have started to enjoy using my blog, and can see its advantages to the business world for consumer relationships, I havent found yet how someone in a 9-5 job (or a doctor!!) would make productive time to maintain a blog.

As I continued to read her article I realized that visiting the doctor has become like being a smart shopper. I went the the health center today well prepared to describe my symptoms, and offer some solutions as to what illness I might have. These consumer awarenesses are available because of all the medical websites. One specific that allows you to type in your symptoms and the site will send back a diagnosis. WebMD. Point being that if the medical field was able to find time to produce a thoughtful blog, it could quite possibly improve consumer opinions of the practice. However, I don't know how much people credit blogs. I would be spectical of a doctor's blog due to the assumption that there might not be sufficient time or the bias of the responses.

Hard Drives on Google

I don't know if this relates to class yet but since we love to talk about Google I though it applied...

The article title says a lot. "Google to be world’s hard drive" by Tony Glover.
It explains the plans for the creation of the Gdrive. This is interesting in the subject of Privacy and Security. This means that companies and individuals will have their information stored through google and who is to say that it will remain exclusively private. But still have all of storage needs at the finger tips of any internet connection. It would make google the largest storer of information

American Idol Wiki Edit #2

Skype Cellphones

After talking about skype is class and the benefit of it being free communication, I found this article about Skype being available with Wifi on cellphones. The feature is going to become available on Carrier Devices' i-mate brand. This additional technology is an advanacement in the way the world communicates. We currently pay for all of our telephone services, mobile and landline, but skype is in the process if by oassing both of them.

http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/02/11/HNskypecellphones_1.html

This isnt just the trend with a few cell phone companies. Motorola, a company I am more familar with anyway, is also on thier way to adding skype on mobile phones too. The article explains how the technologly will tremendously affect the cell phone industy. Communcating will essentially be available without costs because the phones would steer calls away from cell phone networks, combination cell and voice over Internet Protocol. This technology puts the world at our finger tips at no cost to the consumer. It should be interesting to see how the phone companies deal or survive with the furhter development and use of Skype.

Word of Mouth Marketing

After listening to the Skype presentation today I thought it would be appropriate to blog about an assignment in another class.

For buad302 the professor assigned a reseach paper. I chose to write about a small business located on Main Street. The topic of my paper is based on the importance of word-of-mouth marketing. I suggested that the business add a webpage with a blogging feature. It explained the benefits of direct customer feedback and that the "word of mouth buzz" the blog created would attract more customers. I highlighted
  • the minimal to zero cost of blogs
  • conversation between consumers and to the business
  • additonal credibility
  • google juice in a search for your business

It was interesting to listen to Toby explain how she uses blogging in a small business setting because it was the focus of my suggestions in a research paper
